Over the past 13 years, Row for the Cure® regattas have raised over $500,000 for local affiliates of the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Since 1994, Row for the Cure has raised over $500,000 benefiting local affiliates of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation in ten cities across the United States.

The inspiration of Portland, Oregon rower Kathy Frederick, Row for the Cure has blossomed from its Rose City roots with rowers in Seattle, Pullman (Wash.), San Diego, Oakland and Salt Lake City on the West Coast and Dayton and Westerville, Ohio, Grand Rapids, Philadelphia, Jacksonville and Austin on the East Coast starting regattas to help eradicate breast cancer as a life threatening disease.

That initial regatta  brought rowers to the Willamette to support the Race for the Cure run and walk and raised a modest $1,500.

By 2006 some 11 cities across the U.S. and Frankfurt, Germany have hosted a Row for the Cure and the U.S. women's national eight-oared crew helped raise awareness of the fight against breast cancer by competing in a Komen benefit sprint following the Munich, Germany World Cup stop.

Today, Row for the Cure is a multi-sport regatta that includes canoe/kayak, dragon boat, and Native American canoes participating in regattas on both U.S. coasts.

With one in eight women being diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime, the time is right to take the lead in fighting this disease!
